Built in 1942 by developer Brenton Lea, one of Vancouver's two Hobbit Houses is up for sale. For a mere $2.86 million this iconic home can be yours. Known for it's cedar shingle thatched roof, the Hobbit House is located less than a block from Vancouver's rapid transit Canada Line. It is located in the middle of the Cambie Corridor, a neighborhood in transition. Everywhere you look old houses are coming down to make way for higher density housing. Will the Hobbit House remain standing or be torn down?

What an odd, lumpy roof. Can't imagine why this house is worth so much. Would not want to replace that roof. Interesting photographs.

I loved seeing this house whenever we drove by it. Hope whoever buys it keeps it as original as possible.
