I came across these murals several months ago in a back lane just west of Woodland Park in East Van.
Painted on an old fence and garage the paint is slowly starting to peel and chip away. One of the murals is signed at the bottom but the signature is not legible. Every once in awhile I pop into the lane to take pics of some of the graffiti and old buildings that I'm sure will be torn down one day soon
Punto Pasta on the corner of Denman and Robson in the West End has been boarded up for months now. A Legal Notice to STOP WORK IMMEDIATELY was posted on the front door October 24, 2017.
Crashing into the seawall between Sunset Beach and English Bay last week this sailboat seems to be going nowhere fast. It is not uncommon to see a few boats crashed along Vancouver shorelines after a windstorm but what few people realize is that if the owner walks away from these damaged or destroyed boats the cleanup then becomes the responsibility of the Vancouver Parks Board. Costs can be as high as 7,000 dollars and last year the city had to deal with close to 20 boats.
The back lane just off of Seymour and Pender is being used to film some of the exterior shots
for the movie Skyscraper starring 'The Rock' Dwayne Johnson.
Artists are painting the town every color imaginable for Vancouver's second Mural Festival taking place from Aug 7 to 12. Most of the murals are being painted in the Mount Pleasant area near Main Street, with this year's festival transforming an additional 50 walls to add to the 35 painted last year. You can view a map here. Artists from Vancouver and around the world are on the streets painting selected walls all week. The pictures above were taken in the lane just west of the Lee Building on Broadway and Main.
