Hastings Street

An old rundown building sits next to a newer condo development near Hastings Street. Long considered one of the poorest urban neighborhoods in Canada, the face of the Downtown Eastside is rapidly changing with an influx of trendy restaurants, new condo buildings and boutique stores opening in the area.

  1. Transitioning happens everywhere all the time it seems and sometimes it is for the better. The trick is to make the newer buildings affordable and to not leave folks in these neighborhoods behind. Would also be great if we took better care of older buildings and kept them up so they were useable far into the future and gave us a sense of the past. You have a good eye for photography. Each picture tells a story all on its own. :)
