Looking like a bombed out building in a war zone, this house sits on the west side of Vancouver. Neighbors say that it had major renovations less than five years ago, only to be sold and end up looking like this. Usually a salvage team is contracted to remove usable building materials such as doors, windows and hardwood flooring, ensuring that these items can be reused and not end up in a landfill. Not sure if that happened with this house.

The rich aren't like the rest of us ... :-)
ReplyDeleteI work at Jack's New & Used Building Materials. We come out and salvage everything we can from demo projects like this. Not only does the owner get a little something, it helps the environment by recycling items that would just go to fill our dumps. From those pictures I can tell you right now no salvage team was contacted.
ReplyDeleteSeems like such a waste. The lot must be rather phenomenal to feel the need to do this.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness it looks like it was such a beautiful home. I guess something bigger and “better” is on the way up.
ReplyDeleteVery sad to see a beautiful home being destroyed. And not taking the time to recycle some good materials in that home.
ReplyDeleteI do not understand why people would tear down a perfectly good house and not at least salvage as much as they can. If they don't want it, there are many others who would be grateful.
